LAUNCH X431 PRO3: Power Seat Position Learn on Ford Nautilus
This article will explain how to perform the power seat position learning procedure on 2024 Ford Nautilus using LAUNCH X431 PRO3 V+ ELITE. This function is typically performed after replacing a seat motor or seat control module, or following major repairs to the seat; it ensures that the power seat adjustment and memory functions operate correctly.
Function Description:
This function is primarily used to memorize and automatically restore the driver’s seat position, enhancing driving comfort and convenience.
Tested Model: FORD — NAUTILUS — 2024
Supported equipment: X431 PRO series, X431 PRO3 series, X431 PRO5, and X431 PAD series, the current one for Demo is X431 PRO3 V+ ELITE.
Operating Procedure:
1) Connect the X431 device to the vehicle’s OBD port, then tap [Diagnostics] -> [Ford]. It is recommended to use Ford diagnostic software version V50.75 or higher.
2) When selecting a vehicle model, you can use the "Automatically Search" function. Click [Automatically Search], set the ignition switch to ON (Position II), and then tap [OK].
3) Confirm that the vehicle information is correct, then tap [YES].
4) On the vehicle system topology, tap [Smart Detection].
5) After the vehicle scan, tap [DSM (Driver Front Seat Module)].
6) In the DSM menu, choose [Special Functions] -> [Power Seat Position Learn]. Turn on the ignition switch, then tap [OK].
7) In the function main menu, choose [Learn Seat Positions].
Before Beginning Diagnostics On This System Make Sure Of TheFollowing:
- Battery Voltage Is Between 9 And 16 Volts.
- The Tailgate Is Open And The Vehicle Is Stationary.
- Make Sure No Seat Buttons Are Pressed Before Or During The Test.
- The Right Or Left Seat Recliner Button Is Not Pressed.
- There Are No Hall Sensor Or Motor Faults On The Third Row Seats.
- No Obstruction To Prevent The Seat From Completing Full Travel Movements.
8) Wait for the test to complete ("Test In Progress."). When the X431 tool prompts: "Seat Learning Completed", Tap [OK], and turn off the ignition switch.
Additional note: If there are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) present in the vehicle that need to be cleared, you can select [Check Module DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)] from the main menu and follow the steps below.
Turn on the ignition switch and wait for the module self-test to complete. (In this test, the vehicle has no fault codes, so the message "There Is No DTC" is displayed.)
The DTCs related to seat learning are B1231–54 and B1232–54. These are not present in the vehicle used for this test; therefore, third-row seat learning is not required. If a vehicle does have fault codes, they can be cleared via this menu.
Once the seat learning, DTC clearing, or other relevant functions are complete, return to the main menu and select [Exit]. Turn off the ignition switch, then tap [OK] to exit the program.
