LAUNCH X431 PRO3 HD: Disable Dongfeng Truck Intake Air Heater

 Commercial vehicles are typically diesel-powered, and low intake temperatures can affect engine performance. The intake air heater heats the air entering the cylinders, raising the engine’s intake temperature. In some cases, the system can also be manually disabled. The LAUNCH SmartLink HD works with the X431 PRO3 series and X431 PAD series truck diagnostics, enabling functions such as disabling the intake air heater.

Function Description:

Tests/disables the vehicle’s intake air heater.

Test Vehicle: 2021 Dongfeng Tianjin

Supported X431 tools:

X431 V+ (PRO3) HD, X431 PRO3S+ HD, X431 PAD V ELITE, X431 PAD VII ELITE, X431 PAD IX, etc.

NOTE: These tools require SmartLink HD to perform truck diagnostics.

This time we’ll be using the [Intake Air Heater] function. We’ll explain how to access it using both Intelligent Diagnose and Local Diagnosis.

Part 1: Enter the "Intake Air Heater" function.

Using the Smart Diagnosis method

Select [Intelligent Diagnose].

Select "Engine System"

Confirm vehicle information and click [OK]

Select [Feature And Parameter] -> [Intake Air Heater].

Using the Local Diagnosis method

Select [Local Diagnosis] -> [DF Truck].

Select [Select by vehicle model] -> [Dongfeng TianJin] -> [Automatic Test]. Enter the topology map function interface.

On the topology interface, click[Smart Detection]. Wait for smart detection to complete.

Click on [System List], Find the Engine page and click [Enter]. Confirm vehicle information and click [OK].

Click [Feature And Parameter] -> [Intake Air Heater].

Part2: Turn off the "Intake Air Heater"

Click [New Value], enter [0], and change the value to "Disable".

Click on "Apply".

Execute the prompt of X431 device: Please turn the Key Switch off, and then click OK.

Please turn the Key Switch on, and then click OK.

If the function is successfully executed, the X431 device will prompt: All parameters were written successfully to the ECM.

We can see that the Intake Air Heater Current Values has changed to [Disable]. This means our work has been successfully completed.
