LAUNCH X431: Porsche Cayenne replace Lead-acid battery match
The LAUNCH X431 diagnostic tool supports re-matching when the battery type of a gasoline vehicle is changed, such as when the Porsche Cayenne lithium battery is replaced with a lead-acid battery.
Background Explanation: When the Porsche Cayenne is in an area with no signal (e.g., parked in an underground garage), the infotainment system attempting to contact the manufacturer’s server can drain the battery. Once the lithium-ion battery is fully depleted, it triggers a protection mechanism, preventing recharging and causing an electrical fault warning. In such cases, a firmware update is required to reset the protection. In addition, if the lithium battery is swollen or bulging, it cannot be repaired and can only be replaced.
In contrast, lead-acid batteries have an advantage: even if the vehicle remains parked and unused for long periods, they do not experience similar electrical faults as lithium-ion batteries.
NOTE: There are pros and cons to replacing lead-acid batteries, which are beyond the scope of this article.
Function description: for Porsche Cayenne fitted with lithium battery, lithium battery replacement cost is very expensive if damaged. If replaced with cheap lead-acid battery, it is necessary to perform [code/brush hiding] function.

The parts for modification can be purchased from modification part dealer.
Replace original battery negative wire with modified part. One end of red modification part is connected to positive anode, the other end connected to negative anode. Installed lead-acid battery.
After lead-acid battery and modified part are installed, the instrument panel displayed a prompt: vehicle electrical fault.
We won’t go into detail about battery removal and replacement; this article will focus on programming the battery using the LAUNCH X431 diagnostic tool after replacement.
Operation Guide:
1. Many fault codes related to battery are present;
2. Enter gateway system, select [Code/Brush Hiding];
3. First backup all code, and then select [Code/Brush Hiding];
4. Select [Battery (12V vehicle electrical system)];
5. Select [Battery (12V vehicle electrical system) — capacity];
6. Lead-acid battery mark;
7. Initial Value is 60. Replaced lead-acid battery capacity is 92Ah. Click [60], input [92], click [OK].
8. Click [Write code]; wait code successful, click [OK];
9.Select [Battery (12V vehicle electrical system) — technology];
10.Initial value is lithium battery. Click [lithium battery] below code value. ;
11.Select [Absorbent Glass Mat(AGM)];
12.Click [Write code]; wait code successful, click [OK];
13.Select [Battery (12V vehicle electrical system) — manufacture];
14.Change manufacture to [JCB]. Code successful, click [OK];
15.Select [Battery (12V vehicle electrical system) — serial number];
16.No battery serial number is found in replaced battery mark, it is ok to write original battery serial number. Code successful, click [OK];
17.No fault code related to battery is present after cleared;
18.Vehicle has no fault light, battery voltage information can be found in instrument panel ;
At this point, the work is completed.
