How to Re-calibrating Honda CKP sensor with LAUNCH X431 Tool
LAUNCH X431 diagnostic tool supports re-calibrating the CKP sensor in Honda vehicles after replacing it. This article explains how to perform this operation.
Tested Model: HONDA JAZZ HYBRID 2021
Function Description:
For Honda models, after repairing the misfire or replacing the CKP sensor, you need to perform this function to write the new crankshaft (CKP) sensor matching value to the ECM/PCM.
Tool used this time: LAUNCH X431 PAD V ELITE
This function can also be performed using other LAUNCH X431 PAD series tools.
Execution Conditions:
- Connector connected and ignition switch ON
- In P gear
- Engine coolant temperature: over 75 [℃] (HEV system engine coolant temperature: over 80 [℃])
- ATF temperature: over 45 [℃]
- Before starting the engine, the hybrid vehicle must be switched to the maintenance mode.
Procedure:
1. On a PAD 5, choose [Local Diagnose], and then choose [Honda] for testing.
2. Click [16PIN DLC], and then choose the region to automatically identify the car model. For this test, choose the [General] region.
3. Confirm the vehicle information, and then click OK.
4. Choose the engine system and click [ENTER].
5. Choose [Special Function].
6. Choose [Crank (CKP) Pattern].
7. Choose [Crank (CKP) Pattern Clear] to clear the crankshaft (CKP) sensor matching value data stored in the ECM/PCM.
8. View the function description and click OK.
9. Clearing…Please wait.
10.Start the engine as prompted and then click OK. Before starting the engine, the hybrid vehicle must be switched to the maintenance mode.
11.Turn off the ignition switch as prompted, and then click OK.
12.Turn on the ignition switch as prompted, and then click OK.
13.Wait for 30s.
14.The crankshaft (CKP) sensor matching value data in the ECM/PCM has been cleared. Click OK.
15.Choose [Crank (CKP) Pattern Learning] to write the new crankshaft (CKP) sensor matching value into the ECM/PCM.
16.After checking that all the test conditions are met, click OK.
17.The software checks whether the test conditions are normal.
18.Turn off the ignition switch as prompted, and then click OK.
19.Turn on the ignition switch as prompted, and then click OK.
20.Start the engine as prompted and then click OK. Before starting the engine, the hybrid vehicle must be switched to the maintenance mode.
21.Depress the accelerator pedal to increase the engine speed to over 3500 RPM.
22.Release the throttle and click OK.
23.The new crankshaft (CKP) sensor matching value has been written to the ECM/ PCM, and the crankshaft (CKP) sensor matching value learning is completed.
At this point, the work is completed.
